The Idea: Contextual Yield at the Point of Exploration
When users look up an Ethereum address, they’re trying to understand what a wallet holds and how it’s being used. That intent creates a natural opening to surface yield opportunities for assets sitting idle. The Etherscan Cards integration uses vaults.fyi market data and idle-asset detection to show users relevant DeFi opportunities directly within the block explorer — without requiring them to visit a separate platform to discover yield. How It Works
- Detect idle balances. When a user views a wallet address, the integration checks for idle ETH and stablecoin balances (USDC, USDT, DAI).
- Find relevant opportunities. vaults.fyi identifies the top DeFi yield opportunities matching those assets, filtered by liquidity and maturity criteria.
- Display the card. A Yield Opportunity card appears in the Cards tab of the wallet page — showing token type, protocol name, vault name, and 7-day APY. (See an example on vitalik.eth.)
- Connect to vaults.fyi. Users who click through land on vaults.fyi, where they can explore detailed analytics, deposit in one click, and track positions.
Vault Selection Criteria
To ensure only high-signal opportunities are shown:- TVL must exceed $100 million — filtering out thin or unproven vaults.
- Stablecoin results are limited to USDC, USDT, and DAI underlyings.
- The vault with the highest 7-day APY for each asset type (ETH, stablecoins) is surfaced.
API Capabilities Used
- Market data — real-time APY, TVL, and vault metadata for vault discovery and display.
- Portfolio and personalized insights — idle balance detection and opportunity matching based on wallet holdings.
- Transaction support — enables users who click through to supply or withdraw directly on vaults.fyi.
Why This Integration Works
Etherscan’s users are already engaged with their wallet data. Surfacing yield opportunities at that moment — with vaults filtered for size and quality — adds value without disruption. Users don’t need a separate product to discover DeFi yield; it appears in the context where they’re already investigating their holdings.Want to embed contextual yield insights in your product?
