Kraken Wallet is a self-custody wallet built to connect users to the decentralized web safely and securely. Through the vaults.fyi API, Kraken powers analytics, personalized yield suggestions, and portfolio tracking across multiple protocols and networks — all within the native wallet interface. This integration is a core part of Kraken’s strategy to establish itself as a leading wallet for DeFi, treating Earn as a first-class product experience rather than an afterthought.

How It Works

Token-level yield suggestions. When users view their balances and select a specific asset, the vaults.fyi API surfaces relevant Earn opportunities for that token — meeting users at the moment of intent. Explore tab. Powered by vaults.fyi market data, the Explore tab lets users browse DeFi opportunities across major protocols without leaving the wallet. Multi-chain coverage. The integration spans Ethereum Mainnet, Base, Optimism, Arbitrum, and Polygon, giving users a cross-chain view of yield opportunities from a single interface. Curated protocol selection. Users can access yields from dozens of leading protocols and filter by their preferences.

API Capabilities Used

The integration relies on two core vaults.fyi API categories:
  • Market data: APY, TVL, and vault metadata across protocols and networks.
  • Portfolio and personalized insights: Tailored suggestions derived from the user’s existing token balances.

Why Kraken Built This with vaults.fyi

Building DeFi yield analytics in-house would require maintaining protocol-specific indexers, normalizing yield calculations across incompatible schemas, and tracking coverage across five networks continuously. By integrating vaults.fyi, Kraken reduced that to a single API — enabling the team to focus on product experience rather than data infrastructure. For users, this means:
  • Personalized earning suggestions based on actual holdings.
  • Yield discovery without leaving the wallet.
  • Multi-chain opportunities in one place.
  • Real-time data from verified onchain sources.

Roadmap

The current integration focuses on analytics and personalized discovery. Planned expansions include transaction support for one- and two-click supply and withdraw directly from the Earn interface, additional network coverage, and further personalization based on user behavior.
